The Global Citizens Youth Assembly was held from 18-20 August 2011 at Visthar, Bengalur, India and following were the main themes.
- Green Economy in the context of poverty eradication and sustainable development
- Role of media for social change
- Role of youth in achieving the Millennium Development Goals
With the nomination of SUNFO Director General Peace Ambassador Dr.Deshapriya S. Wijetunge and on the invitation of Global Citizens for Sustainable Development Executive Director Millennium Development Ambassador Anugraha John, a 18 Member Youth Team participated from SUNFO for this Assembly . On Aug 18 and 19 several workshops and cultural evenings were in the agenda. On the third day delegates visited the HOPE Children Home for children of migrant workers and spend time with them. Sri Lankan Cultural presentations attracted by many participants in the Assembly.
