SUNFO appointed youth leaders below 25 years of age who will be prospective Youth Community Service Ambassadors. The first batch of selected youth leaders participated in a training and awareness workshop organized by SUNFO. They have been given basic awareness of GYSD, GYSD History, UN+SUNFO+MDG and way to involve actively for the preparation of GYSD projects in 2012. Dr.Deshapriya S. Wijetunge (Director General -SUNFO / Asia & Pacific GYSD Coordinator led the workshop, Participants were divided to 5 Groups and opportunities were given to perform group presentations at the GYSD Asia Pacific Inaugural Ceremony.
During the last six years SUNFO served as GYSD National Lead Agency for GYSD.Two key activists of previous GYSD projects in Sri Lanka, namely Mr. J.R.Rasanjana Bandara (RANTARU in Anuradhapura District) & Master K.D.D.Sachintha (TRIPC-Meegoda in Colombo District) spoke about their experiences in organizing award winning GYSD projects at the workshop.
