5th International Youth Peace Festival (IYPF) September 26, 2010 to October 2, 2010


Sri Lanka-United Nations Friendship Organisation was a Co-International Partner of organizing this Festival in Chandigarh City, India led by yuvsatta-Youth For Peace. A 35 member strong youth and peace delegation nominated by SUNFO represented in this Festival from Sri Lanka.

Hon.Pawan Kumar Bansal, Union Cabinet Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Water  Resources of the Government of India  were the Patron of the IYPF , while Union Cabinut Minster of Youth Affairs and Sports Hon.M.S.Gill, Chief Minster of Hariyana  Hon. Bhupinder Singh Hooda, Chief Justice Hon. Mukul Mudgal, SUNFO Director General Peace Ambassador Dr.Deshapriya S. Wijetunge were Special Guest invitees for this Festival which participated over 100,000 youth from the world and across India in different forums and activities related to IYPF.

In his message Dr.Wijetunge appealed all youth participants of the Festival to become change makers of their communities, schools, universities, villages, homes and countries as Youth are the future, so that  Youth dedication and desire to build  a peaceful world never to be failed.

Sri Lankan youth played  a key role in organizing SAARK Water Summit, Peace Parade, Cultural Presentations and global friendship development programmes in the Festival with the guidance of Chief Coordinator Mr. Parmod Sharma.
